What to expect when moving to Natural Deodorant
Before we start, we need to understand how sweat works. In a nutshell, it’s not your sweat that smells, but the bacteria on your skin.
When bacteria comes into contact with your sweat, body odour occurs. By neutralising the bacteria, you’re removing the cause of bad smells.
Another important thing to understand is the difference between an antiperspirant and a deodorant. Antiperspirants are all in the name – they stop you from perspiring, a.k.a sweating, by blocking your pores.
Once you start using a natural deodorant, your body might go through a readjustment phase. It can take up to 30 days for your body to adjust fully from aluminium and antiperspirants.
In this time, as your body adjusts to a natural deodorant, you can sometimes experience an increase of odour-causing bacteria
It is important to know that this won’t last forever, it is just a part of the adjustment that happens when your pores are no longer blocked
Once your body has gotten used to the change, this will subside and you can be confident you are using a product that is gentle yet effective
